The Godwin-Ternbach Museum is the art museum of Queens College, part of the City University of New York, located in Flushing, Queens. It is the only comprehensive art collection housed within the borough, with holdings tracing back to a 1957 teaching collection of roughly 350 objects that have since grown roughly tenfold into a global collection spanning about 5,000 years, from ancient artifacts to contemporary work representing cultures across Africa, Asia, Latin America, Europe, and North America. The museum was formally established in 1981, named for Frances Godwin, an art history professor who championed hands-on learning, and Joseph Ternbach, an art restorer who fled Nazi-occupied Vienna and helped attract major donations to the college. It offers gallery talks, lectures, workshops, and K-12 education programs for Queens College students and the wider public.
