Gladstone Gallery is a contemporary art gallery founded in 1980 by Barbara Gladstone, who opened the space in Manhattan after teaching art history at Hofstra University, showing artist Jenny Holzer among her first exhibitions. The gallery relocated to Chelsea in 1996, partnering with Metro Pictures and Matthew Marks Gallery on a shared warehouse building on West 24th Street later redesigned by Selldorf Architects. Over four decades it gave New York solo debuts to artists including Matthew Barney, and by the 2020s represented figures such as Anish Kapoor and Shirin Neshat while also managing the estates of Keith Haring, Robert Mapplethorpe, and Robert Rauschenberg. In 2020, dealer Gavin Brown closed his own gallery to join as a partner. Gladstone now operates spaces in New York, Los Angeles, Brussels, and Seoul.
