Weaving Hand
Art galleryWeaving Hand is a weaving studio and healing-arts center founded in 2006 by artist Cynthia Alberto in Brooklyn. Alberto, who trained at the Fashion Institute of Technology, built the studio around a practice that bridges traditional and contemporary weaving techniques drawn from Europe, Asia, Latin America, and Africa, incorporating unconventional and sustainable materials under a zero-waste philosophy. Weaving Hand offers studio classes, workshops, commissions, outreach programs, and exhibitions, and has organized participatory public weaving projects. Alberto was named a 2018 Artist Fellow at the Museum of Arts and Design, where she has led residencies and community-engaged weaving demonstrations.
