The Toy Museum of NY is a small theatrical, performance-based museum in Brooklyn Heights, founded in 1999 as the Doll and Toy Museum of NYC by Marlene Hochman and renamed in 2009 when it moved to its current home on the second floor of St. Ann and the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church. The museum uses its collection of dolls and toys dating back to the 1880s — including a Mr. Potato Head, an original Frisbee pie pan, G.I. Joe figures, and an Easy-Bake Oven — to tell the story of societal change through the history of play. Beyond its home gallery, it extends programming to Brooklyn Heights and Bay Ridge public library branches and hosts education-focused shows for school and camp groups.
