Ricco/Maresca Gallery is a Chelsea, Manhattan gallery specializing in self-taught, outsider, and American folk art alongside contemporary and historically significant modern work. It was founded in 1979 by Roger Ricco, a conservator of tribal and primitive art, and Frank Maresca, a photographer and collector, who opened a small SoHo loft space on Broome Street before relocating through TriBeCa and Wooster Street; in 1997 the gallery became one of the first to move into the emerging Chelsea art district, where it remains. A member of the Art Dealers Association of America, the gallery represents artists such as Gil Batle and Morris Hirshfield and has been covered by publications including Artforum and Artnet.
