Rehs Galleries is a Manhattan art gallery whose roots trace to the late 1930s, when accountant M. Edwin Schillay began importing European paintings to New York in bulk shipments; his wife Ruth later joined the business, and the family opened a formal gallery space, shifting from bulk imports to individual sales. In 1991 Joseph Rehs took over from the remaining Schillay family members and renamed the business Rehs Galleries, Inc. The gallery specializes in nineteenth- and early twentieth-century European academic and salon paintings, representing artists who exhibited at the Paris Salon and London Royal Academy between 1850 and 1920, including William Bouguereau, Jean-Baptiste-Camille Corot, and Edouard Cortes, alongside a program of contemporary art, and has belonged to the Fine Art Dealers Association since 1995.
