KAJE
Art galleryKAJE is a nonprofit exhibition and project space in Gowanus, Brooklyn, established in 2018 in the space between two artists' studios. Co-founded by Kate Levant and Jacques Vidal, the organization describes its mission as supporting creative work that is difficult to define and resistant to market pressures, offering artists room to test ideas outside the pressures of commercial galleries. Its programming spans solo and group exhibitions, artist-led projects, and special editions, with past presentations including work by artists such as Michael E. Smith, Tony Chrenka, and Simon Liu. KAJE also runs a membership program and a shop selling artist editions, and is W.A.G.E certified, with support from the New York State Council on the Arts and the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs.
