The Italian American Museum is a nonprofit cultural institution in Manhattan's Little Italy dedicated to preserving and presenting the history, culture, and contributions of Italian Americans through exhibitions, education, and community partnerships. The museum opened a new facility in October 2024 featuring exhibits such as 32 life-sized Manteo marionette puppets made about a century ago by puppeteer Agrippino Manteo, a tribute to explorer Giovanni da Verrazzano, and a sculpture honoring garment-industry seamstresses titled "Goodnight, Maria." A permanent exhibition on the Italian American experience, covering the community's history from its origins to the present through interactive displays and archival artifacts, was planned to open in 2025.
