Flux Factory is an artist-run nonprofit that began in 1994 as an informal collective of New School undergraduates in Williamsburg, became a nonprofit in 1999, and settled in 2008 into a converted greeting-card factory in Long Island City, Queens, which it later purchased alongside a second venue, Flux IV. The organization centers on an artist-in-residence program, drawing a rotating community it calls "Fluxers," alongside workshops, artist talks, and public exhibitions that grow out of residency projects, including a recurring Rhizome Project and satellite shows. Flux Factory functions as an incubation space for collaborative, experimental art in dialogue with New York's physical and social fabric.
