Booklyn is an artist-run nonprofit devoted to artist books and book arts, founded in 1999 in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, and governed by artists since its inception. The 501(c)(3) organization works to promote, distribute, and archive artists' books, aiming to interrupt traditional art-distribution networks by cultivating direct connections between contemporary artists and universities, libraries, and other institutions. In early 2018 Booklyn moved from Greenpoint to the Brooklyn Army Terminal in Sunset Park, where it expanded its education and archiving programs; it teaches bookbinding and zine-making workshops, curates fairs during New York's Rare Book Week, and has produced collaborative social-justice portfolios with activist groups. Its organizational archive resides at the Library of Congress.
