Black Ball Projects is a nonprofit arts organization in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, founded in 2015 by artists Ana Wolovick, Harriet Salmon, and Jason Tomme as a gallery run by artists, for artists. Converted to a 501(c)(3) in late 2018, it is funded through independent donations and sales of donated works, and its mission is to support underexposed contemporary artists working on the periphery of the greater art world, with diversity of gender, race, age, and economic background at its core. Since 2015 the organization has produced 28 physical exhibitions and nine online viewing rooms, and in 2021 it launched a micro-grant program pairing $2,000 cash awards with dedicated viewing rooms and artist talks. It was included in The New York Times Spring Gallery Guide in 2017 and 2018 and has been reviewed in The New Yorker, The Village Voice, and The Brooklyn Rail.
