apexart is a nonprofit contemporary art space founded by Steven Rand in 1994 and located in Tribeca, Manhattan. The organization mounts roughly nine exhibitions a year alongside more than fifty public lectures and performances, with free admission year-round. Its programming centers on open, transparent selection rather than curatorial gatekeeping: the NYC Open Call and International Open Call each choose winning exhibition proposals through crowd-sourced voting by hundreds of jurors worldwide, awarding a $10,000 exhibition budget including a stipend, while a Global Fellowship brings international curators and artists to New York. Over three decades apexart has mounted hundreds of exhibitions and supported well over a thousand artists and curators.
