Amos Eno Gallery is a nonprofit, artist-run cooperative gallery founded in 1974, making it one of New York City's longest-running artist-run spaces. It opened in a Soho basement on Mercer Street and relocated several times as the city's gallery neighborhoods shifted, moving through Wooster Street and back to Mercer Street before settling on Manhattan's Lower East Side. Run by a small community of professional artists vetted through peer review, along with a part-time director, the gallery gives precedence to artistic expression outside commercial constraints, showing emerging and mid-career artists across painting, performance, installation, and video. It also hosts screenings, panels, and workshops, and launched the Henry Street Gallery Walk connecting nearby Lower East Side galleries.
