Makeville Studio
OtherMakeville Studio is a woodworking studio in Gowanus, Brooklyn, founded in 2008 by Robyn Mierzwa, a self-taught woodworker who spent nearly two decades working as an architectural lighting designer. What began as a small shop with a handful of classes has grown into a community wood shop offering public shop access, tool use, and small classes in furniture making, woodturning, green woodworking, and spoon carving, taught by professional craftspeople. The studio is woman/queer-owned and emphasizes inclusivity and accessibility, running designated classes for women, trans, and femme students and a scholarship fund supporting new makers. Alongside its Gowanus workshop, Makeville offers private lessons, tool certifications, and video tutorials for woodworkers of all levels.
