Casielle Santos-Gaerlan

Painting

Casielle is an oil painter whose work explores the bicultural Filipino-American experience and the psychology of identity. Through representational motifs, layered textures, and intentional color choices, her paintings become vessels of memory and narrative. Each piece reflects a process of searching—an attempt to bridge the distance between two cultures while holding space for the complexities of belonging to both. Casielle approaches her practice as a form of collective storytelling, weaving together personal recollections and shared histories. By engaging with symbolism and abstraction, she creates visual languages that evoke both the intimacy of individual memory and the broader resonance of cultural identity. Her work is an ongoing exploration of connection, an effort to honor heritage, navigate duality, and reimagine what it means to belong.
