Leonard Reibstein is a painter based in Greenpoint, Brooklyn, whose figurative work draws on art-historical references and subculture imagery to examine power, hierarchy, and masculinity. One frequently discussed piece, Great Again (2016), depicts a Klansman and a caricatured Trump figure touching fingertips in a composition that echoes Michelangelo's Sistine Chapel ceiling while nodding to Philip Guston's hooded-figure paintings, using history-painting conventions to comment on contemporary politics. He has shown his work through Brooklyn's Greenpoint Open Studios in multiple years and exhibited at the SPRING/BREAK Art Show.
