Works on Water is a New York-based collective of artists and curators, founded in 2017 in the wake of Hurricane Sandy, that makes and presents artwork on, in, and with urban bodies of water. Its flagship project is a triennial exhibition and residency program pairing site-specific, participatory, and time-based installations with public programs such as Walking the Edge, a collective effort to walk the full length of New York City's coastline. The inaugural 2017 triennial, curated by artists including Nancy Nowacek, Sarah Cameron Sunde, Eve Mosher, and Katie Pearl, ran for 26 days at the 3LD Art and Technology Center in Manhattan and featured installations, performances, and expeditions examining water in the urban environment. Later editions have been staged at Governors Island in partnership with organizations including the South Street Seaport Museum.
