Viridian Artists
Art galleryViridian Artists is an artist-owned gallery in Chelsea, Manhattan, tracing its roots to a collective formed on Long Island in the 1960s that became one of SoHo's early artist-run galleries, then spent 25 years on West 57th Street before relocating to Chelsea just before September 11, 2001. Unlike a cooperative where members run their own shows, Viridian's professional staff handles exhibition logistics for its represented artists, who are admitted through peer review and contribute dues toward the gallery's operating costs. The roster includes emerging and established artists from across the United States and abroad, including Japan, France, and Korea, with programming that features juried and invitational group exhibitions and a young artist's program.
