Tiger Strikes Asteroid
Art galleryTiger Strikes Asteroid is a nonprofit network of independently programmed, artist-run exhibition spaces founded in Philadelphia in 2009 by Alex Paik. It has since grown into five locations, including one in Bushwick, Brooklyn, that share resources and a governing structure while remaining responsive to their own communities. The network describes its mission as bringing people together and building cooperative, artist-initiated exhibitions, projects, and curatorial opportunities as an alternative to commercial gallery structures, and says it has presented more than 2,000 artists across over 400 exhibitions since founding. Its programming has been covered by The New York Times, Artforum, and The New Yorker. The organization is currently led by network co-directors Kara Mshinda and Elisa Gutierrez Eriksen.
