Studio in a School Association is a New York City nonprofit founded in 1977 by philanthropist Agnes Gund in response to budget cuts that had eliminated arts instruction from city public schools. It places professional artists directly in public school classrooms and community-based organizations across all five boroughs to teach visual arts, and has provided instruction to more than one million students in over 800 schools and organizations since its founding. Its programs extend beyond elementary and middle schools to include high school and teen instruction and internship programs such as the Bloomberg Arts Internship and Arts Intern College, alongside teaching resources for educators and families.
