Shin Gallery
Art galleryShin Gallery is a contemporary art gallery on Manhattan's Lower East Side, founded in 2013 by Hong Gyu Shin, who began collecting art as a teenager and opened the gallery while still in college. Initially focused on emerging Korean artists, the gallery's program has since broadened to an international roster, with a particular emphasis on rediscovering artists historically overlooked because of their ethnicity or gender, alongside self-taught and outsider artists. The gallery expanded to three spaces on Orchard Street in 2017, launched the SHIN HAUS program spotlighting emerging artists in 2020, and later established an artist residency program upstate. Shin Gallery is known for museum-quality exhibitions that pair established names with under-recognized figures in modern and contemporary art.
