The Noble Maritime Collection is a museum on the Snug Harbor Cultural Center campus in Staten Island dedicated to the art, writing, and maritime artifacts of marine painter John A. Noble (1913-1983) and to the working waterfront history of New York Harbor. It began in 1986 inside Noble's own Staten Island home before relocating to a derelict 19th-century dormitory at Snug Harbor, which a volunteer group known as the Noble Crew rehabilitated into exhibition space, work recognized by the National Trust for Historic Preservation. The museum's centerpiece is Noble's restored houseboat studio, displayed alongside prints and lithographs by artists such as Marc Chagall and Kathe Kollwitz, ship models, and material related to Robbins Reef Lighthouse. Admission is pay-what-you-wish.
