Light Industry
Art galleryLight Industry is a microcinema in Brooklyn founded in 2008 by Ed Halter and Thomas Beard, who met through the New York Underground Film Festival and drew inspiration from Amos Vogel's Cinema 16 society. Presenting roughly one curated screening a week, it shows rarely seen works spanning avant-garde, underground, and international art film, video art, and new media, often placing overlooked queer and experimental cinema in dialogue with contemporary art. After stints in Industry City, Downtown Brooklyn, and Greenpoint, it relocated to Williamsburg in 2023. Its board includes filmmaker Kelly Reichardt and artist Paul Chan.
