Kathryn Markel Fine Arts is a Chelsea gallery founded by Kathryn Markel, who began selling prints from a private Upper East Side apartment in 1975 after gallery experience in Chicago and several years selling lithographs by artists including Christo and Sol LeWitt for Landfall Press. As the print market grew speculative, she shifted to original works on paper and later paintings, operating on 57th Street before a period as a private dealer and eventual moves through SoHo and, in 2001, to Chelsea. The gallery focuses on living artists and now operates two spaces on West 20th Street and 10th Avenue.
