Jack Shainman Gallery is a contemporary art gallery founded in 1984 in Washington, D.C. by Jack Shainman and Claude Simard, focused since its founding on artists who have achieved mastery within their disciplines, including many from Africa and the African diaspora. The gallery has operated a Chelsea location on West 20th Street since 1997 and, in January 2025, opened a 20,000-square-foot flagship space in the landmarked Clock Tower Building on Lafayette Street in Tribeca, inaugurated with an exhibition by Nick Cave. It also runs The School, a converted exhibition space in Kinderhook, New York, since 2013. Gallery artists have won two Golden Lions at the Venice Biennale and two MacArthur Fellowships, with work held in collections including MoMA and Tate Modern.
