International Center of Photography (ICP) is a nonprofit museum and school founded in 1974 by photographer Cornell Capa to champion concerned photography, the socially and politically engaged tradition associated with photographers such as Robert Capa and Werner Bischof. Now based on the Lower East Side of Manhattan, ICP unified its museum and school under one roof in 2020 and presents exhibitions drawn from a permanent collection of more than 200,000 photographs spanning documentary work from the 1930s to contemporary practice, with holdings by artists including Henri Cartier-Bresson and Gordon Parks. The School of ICP offers certificate, degree, and workshop programs, including an MFA with Bard College and an MA in photography with NYU, and the institution administers the Infinity Awards, established in 1985.
