Harvestworks is a nonprofit new-media arts organization founded in New York City in 1977 by Gregory Kramer and Gerald Lindahl to support artists working with emerging technologies. Based in SoHo since 1987, with an additional presence on Governors Island, it runs residencies, technical consultation, and instruction across electronic and computer-based art disciplines, including a longtime Public Access Synthesizer Studio. Its history includes the Tellus Audio Cassette Magazine, launched in 1983, and the New York Electronic Arts Festival. Harvestworks says it has supported more than 14,000 artists and is listed in the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs directory of cultural organizations.
