Betty Cuningham Gallery
Art galleryBetty Cuningham Gallery is a Lower East Side, Manhattan gallery whose roots reach back to 1972, when Betty Cuningham opened her first gallery above Fanelli's in SoHo, running it until 1982. After later roles at Hirschl & Adler Galleries and Robert Miller Gallery, she reopened Betty Cuningham Gallery in Chelsea in 2004, and in 2014 moved it to the Lower East Side, just blocks from where she began. The program centers on contemporary figurative and representational painting, drawing, and sculpture by mid-career and established artists, with an emphasis on strong draftsmanship, and the gallery has presented work by Philip Pearlstein, Rackstraw Downes, Graham Nickson, John Lees, Bill Traylor, and Judy Glantzman, among others.
