Babycastles is a New York arts collective and gallery devoted to independent videogame culture, founded in 2009 by Kunal Gupta and Syed Salahuddin. The organization began in the basement of the Silent Barn in Ridgewood, Queens, later operated in Bushwick, Brooklyn, and since 2014 has run a gallery space in Manhattan, working to give independent game developers a public place to show their projects and to establish such games as part of New York's social culture. A 501(c)(3) nonprofit supported by the NYC Department of Cultural Affairs and the New York State Council on the Arts, Babycastles fosters and amplifies diverse voices in videogame culture through exhibitions, events, classes, and panels, from game tournaments to the 2016 exhibition Yo Fight My Mans, curated by Ashok Kondabolu.
