Anita Shapolsky Gallery is a Manhattan gallery founded in 1982 by dealer Anita Shapolsky, initially as the Arbitrage Gallery in SoHo before relocating to a townhouse on the Upper East Side in 1997. The gallery specializes in Abstract Expressionism and the New York School of the 1950s and 1960s, with a program built around second-generation Abstract Expressionists alongside Latin American, African American, and women abstract artists whose contributions were historically overlooked. In 1998 Shapolsky founded the affiliated Anita Shapolsky Art Foundation, a nonprofit housed in a converted nineteenth-century church in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania, that runs summer educational programs. Shapolsky holds degrees from Hunter College and New York University.
