Verity & Daughters is the womenswear label of designer Jean Liu, based in Gowanus, Brooklyn. Liu earned a second bachelor's degree in fashion design from Parsons School of Design after an earlier career designing for retail and heritage brands including The Limited, Abercrombie & Fitch, and Converse. Her line mixes vintage-inspired workwear with quirky period-costume details, drawing on vintage American workwear and military silhouettes as well as costume dramas such as Poldark and Far from the Madding Crowd, rendered in modern fabrics and tailoring. The collection centers on pieces like the Janus pant, Dauphine utility shorts, and Starboard sailor pants, designed to be both feminine and utilitarian.
