Traci Talasco
OtherTraci Talasco creates sculptures and installations that use architecture as a social / political space. She uses everyday materials such as plywood, wallpaper, carpeting, sandpaper, erasers, or soap. These objects have a sense of familiarity, yet they are stripped of their intended function and re-configured in absurd or poetic ways making the work emotionally charged. Sometimes the work is interactive through subtle gestures such as walking, touch, or smell. As part of her working process, she makes models and drawings for larger scale installations and uses writing and current events as a springboard for her ideas.
