Swati Jain

My work explores sociocultural, ecological, and multisensory approaches to design as a means of cultivating collective empathy and equitable futures. Rooted in architecture yet extending into art, film, and craft, my ongoing work focuses on creating “spectral sanctuaries,” spaces and objects that embrace interspecies encounters and collective ritual to conjure plurifunctional movements in urban environments, cultivating multi-world co-becomings. I use hybrid craft technologies and decolonial methods to imagine new forms of coexistence. Through projects spanning films, performances, and sculptural furniture, I investigate identity, phenomenological embodiment, and contemporary labor practices, weaving together relational practices that foster dialogue, care, and synchronicity with the environment at large.
