Parsley Steinweiss is a Brooklyn-based artist working in photography, collage, and sculpture, represented by treat gallery. Her practice uses the photographic image to interrogate the medium itself, asking what role photographs play in constructing reality, how they are filtered and manipulated, and how they relate to memory and visual perception. In recent collage-based work she plays flattened space against three-dimensional space, the real against the represented, and the image against the object, often photographing light phenomena as both subject matter and investigative tool. She is based in the Gowanus section of Brooklyn and also undertakes curatorial projects alongside her studio practice.
