Lady Pink, born Sandra Fabara in Ambato, Ecuador in 1964, is a painter and muralist who grew up in Queens and became a leading figure in New York's graffiti subculture. She began painting subway trains around 1979, co-founded the all-female crew Ladies of the Arts in 1980, and starred in the 1983 film Wild Style, which documented the era's hip-hop and graffiti scenes. Her practice shifted from trains to studio painting and large-scale murals that continue to draw on transit and urban imagery, and her work now sits in the collections of the Whitney Museum of American Art, the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Brooklyn Museum, and Tate Modern. She has also collaborated with fashion brands, taught mural workshops for teens, and lectured on graffiti history at colleges.
