OtherEYE TRAVEL My current paintings are created with acrylic gouache on gessoed board. The paintings start with a simple pencil-drawn grid that serves as an underlying structure. I explore basic visual elements like color, quantity, and placement within this framework. My self-imposed restrictions open up a world of endless exploration of the relationships between color and shapes. In this series, I explore symmetry and asymmetry, flatness and the illusion of space, shape interconnection and isolation, as well as stillness and motion. My goal is to engage the viewer’s eye to move around the paintings and, for me, find inner peace and joy in creating these painted puzzles. Keith DuQuette is an artist and craftsman who lives and creates in Brooklyn, New York.
