Greenpoint Glam

Photography

Nostalgia is neither cute nor trivial. It was once a medical diagnosis ascribed to soldiers whose longing to return home caused physical distress. Nostos: return home. Algos: pain. When we stop scrolling at a song from 30 years ago paired with photos of someone we never met, we’re trying to find our way home in a world that feels increasingly uncertain and unfamiliar. I hated the ’90s when I lived through them. But now, when I hold a transparent phone, hear dial-up, or catch the scent of Calvin Klein Obsession, I’m home. It’s instant. Not optional. Each portrait I make with Greenpoint Glam is an attempt to reconcile that irony—a walk taken with my subject toward a place we both know, and where we are known: home.
