Ed Andrade was born in Quito Ecuador and since an early age, he showed his ability for drawing, painting and sculpting. His family moved to the United States in 1979, and he’s been living in New York ever since. Andrade studied at the School of Visual Arts and got a BFA in 1991, he has shown his work on numerous occasions, and after 1995 dedicated his time in mastering wood carving. “I think every artist has a moral and spiritual responsibility to humanity, we as artists possess a gift which should not be taken for granted, and it’s our responsibility to engage people with our work by making them think about the ills of the present reality, the “Status Quo” imposed in our souls has been devouring our existence and art in any form can bring us to be in touch with our spirit. We as artists are vehicles, when we create we pray and we must transfer these feelings to humanity,” says Andrade.
