Beldan Sezen

I create layered paintings and artists’ books that explore memory, war, and identity. I paint with oil sticks and use my fingers and spatulas to move the paint on the surface. It’s a process of several layers of reduction and reapplying. My paintings are a haptic continuation of what I have been doing for years in my books, a relation between what I observed, felt and expressed. During the Open Studios I'm showing work in progress, paintings and works on paper.
