Areta Buk's artwork explores themes of healing and regeneration, which integrate personal mythology and symbols that reference both the natural world and ritual art. She creates her paintings and drawings intuitively, beginning with loose marks that build into intricate patterns and textures. Through the process of repeated handling and layering, her work considers the transformative capacity of mark making. Areta received a BFA from the Philadelphia College of Art and studied at Robert Blackburn's Printmaking Workshop. She lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
